YKG PA/NJ: Successful Bake Sale & Projects

(Nov. 2018)

YKG PA/NJ Girls @ their Bake Sale!

Martin Luther King once said, “Somewhere along the way, we must learn that there is nothing greater than to do something for others.” Helping other people makes me feel very happy inside, and YKG lets us help tons of people. Our first fundraiser was a bake sale to raise money for our first 2 projects. We sold eggless goods at our Gurudwara (temple) on October 28th, 2018. It was very encouraging to receive a tremendous amount of support from the members of our community. Our aim in YKG is to help people in need, and as its member, I feel extremely happy that I will be getting this opportunity. We took our first step in that direction with our bake sale. YKG is a unique organization that lets us express ourselves, help others, and have fun.

Not only did we have a memorable time during our bake sale but we also learned that hard work, team effort, and determination all pay off. We had an awesome time selling eggless baked goods and we all became closer as friends. Our first project is scheduled in December and we are planning to go to a nursing home and bring fun, games, and food to the seniors residing there. Our second project is scheduled for February and we are planning to feed families at the Ronald McDonald House. We hope that the money we raised helps us in our first 2 YKG projects. We couldn’t have made this bake sale a success without the help of our community. As we come together we can make a difference in someone’s entire world.

We should be the change we want to see in the world.

We can’t wait for December and February to come!
